TERM PAPER DRAFT 2
Submission 3
Due Date: 03/21/2019
General Information:
This submission should be a complete text with 4 out of your 5 references included.
It is worth 5% of your final grade. It should be submitted on Brightspace before 11:59pm on the
due date.
At this stage, your outline should be replaced by a fully written text. Your text should follow the
plan you had set in your expanded outline. Yes, I will be reading them side by side when I grade to
see if you followed your own plan and integrated my comments.
This text has an introduction, a development and a conclusion. It should be in your own words.
Any form of plagiarism will be punished. If you aren’t sure what plagiarism is, come see me.
What makes a good essay? Use the following criteria to guide your writing:

It has been proof-read. You have ALL the tools you need to make sure there is no mistake
in your writing. Make sure you use them.

I spent some time giving you feedback on your outlines. Make sure that my comments are
addressed in your writing.

Remember that there is a purpose to this paper: you want to use the example of a movie to
talk about a concept in psychological science. The concept is more important than the
movie. Your paper should reflect that. Illustrate your point with the movie but don’t make
this paper about the movie.

This is a science class. Your writing should reflect this. Be precise, be exact, be direct and
do not be afraid of technical terms. Make sure your writing reflects the academic standard
and not the colloquial level of writing.

Make sure that your text has logic and transitions. Do not jump from one idea or one
concept to the next without telling me why you are making this transition.

This paper is all about the science, not about the author. Make sure that you do not inject
yourself in the text with personal comments like “I think that this is a good study” or “I
believe that …”.
Here are a few things to avoid when writing:

Passive voice (e.g. “It has been found that”)

If something has an impact on something else, it AFFECTS, not effects. If you are talking
about the impact itself, then it is the effect of A on B. For example:
o Drinking coffee at night affects your sleep.
o I am studying the effect of coffee on sleep.

No quotes. Use your own words. Rewrite what you read BUT REFERENCE THE
SOURCE. Meaning, “Potato et al. (2017) conducted a study that showed that coffee
impairs sleep.” These are MY words, but I tell you where I found the information (Author
and Date).
These are just a few things to keep in mind as you are writing. Make sure to keep an eye out for
my comments!

Whole outline
1 Introduction
a. Summarize the movie
There is a boy who called Kevin. He was born with his mother’s impatience and
father’s less attention. He eventually kills his father, sister and students. He had always
been opposed to his mother’s opinion. He had been continuously looking for opportunities
to satirize his mother, and he even destroy his mother’s favorite map which is stick in the
wall.
b. state my question
1 What causes antisocial personality disorder
2 It refers to the long-term anti-social behavior of an individual in a series of behaviors,
including aggression, irresponsibility, and dangerous behavior without considering the
consequences.
3 Kevin kills people without remorse and also, he bowed in the gym where he kills his
schoolmates as if celebrating his success.
c. Present the structure of my paper
1 Section 1: I will describe a study describe gene and anti-social personality disorder.
2 Section 2: I will show the environment like behavior of parents and anti-social
personality disorder by a case study.
3 Section 3: I will talk about gene-environment interactions and anti-social personality
disorder by a study.
Development1
Firstly,I want to talk about the concept of gene which effect antisocial personality
2
disorder.
The association between MAOA gene and antisocial personality disorder was estimated
by detecting changes in ERP (event-related potential) which refer to the response of brain of
MAOA-L and MAOA-H and the association with NEO-FFI index, which proof MAOA have
association with antisocial personality disorder.
Development2
Secondly,I want to talk about the concept of acquired environment which impact
antisocial personality disorder.
By standardizing parents’ warmth, negativity and anti-social behavior, all their behaviors
were measured by a value. Finally, the parents’ values of young people with anti-social behavior
were compared. Finally, the results showed that parents’ behavior had an impact on adolescents’
anti-social behavior.
Development3
Finally, I would like to talk about the concept of GxE (gene-environment interaction) that
generate effects on antisocial personality disorder.
Danielle M. Dick did a report by using examples of twins so as to figure out the
association between genetypes and environment which both effect children’s personalities. In his
report, some researches show experiment impact the degree that genes influence the personalities
of people. For example, marriage reduce the effect gene impose on people about drinking (Heath
et al. 1989). Some researches manifest gene impact the extent that environment influence the
personalities of people. For instance, Koopmans and some scientists found that religious also can
change the desire of people especially women.
Conclusion
3
To sum up, both environment and gene affect our personalities and also the two factors
will cut down or increase the influences of the other side, namely two reasons work on deciding
our characteristics together.
Sometimes I also think about if the gender will affect heredity of character and if there are
some distinction between women and man when environment product affection on people.
Therefore, as we know all the knowledge about the topic I told, what we should do to foster the
next generation’s characters?
