If you look at my header, you will see a shortened version of my title. If your title
is over 50 characters (including spaces), you must shorten your title. You can check
how many characters your title is by highlighting it and clicking on “Tools.” Click on
“Word Count” and you will get the option to check characters with spaces. Try to keep
as close to the same meaning with your title shortened as you can. Also, your title in the
header must be in “all caps.” The header on your title page must have the phrase
“running head” before it. This should be in “all caps” as well. Notice on the pages of your
paper, your header does NOT have “running head”—only your title. In your header,
page numbers are right justified.
On your first page, you will center and type your title again. This time the title is in
“title case” and you use your full title. Only double space once before you start your
introductory paragraph.
Paragraphs only have one double space between them. You will notice that in
this writing. Also, your margins are 1” for left, right, top and bottom. If you have any
more questions about APA paper format, please check the Purdue OWL website
(https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/).
