Strategic planning is an entirely valid and useful tool for controlling all kinds of
organizations including organizations like healthcare. Through strategic planning, a healthcare
care organization gets the sense of direction as well as outlining its measurable goals. An effective
planning like the role of decision making initiated by stakeholders in an organization leads to
useful day-to-day decisions along with an evaluated progress hence prompting the success of the
strategy. On the other hand, when the strategic planning is not integrated into the daily activities
of the organization, there is likelihood for its failure for instance the external factors like
competition. Failure is a clear indication of poor understanding of planning concepts and steps as
well as the inability to address the challenges which results to poor or no implementation of the
strategy (Dent & Goldberg, 2017).
Strategic management principles help the healthcare organizations with a variety of
policies, best practices as well as strategic management. By employing the principle of expediency,
a healthcare organization is in a position to construct a system of goal with the values that have
been approved by stakeholders and administration hence generating the vision and mission of the
organization (Klein, 2016). The result is effective action together with respect for ethics.
Integrating mission, vision, goals, core values, governance with the strategic planning of a
healthcare organization leads to better results, strong market position and faster development.
For any company to prosper, the administration of the organization should be able to
forestall and deal with external and internal factors in relation to financial and operational strategic
planning. Each business has a specific culture. The culture of an organization affects the ability of
an organization to respond and compete positively to changes in the external environment. This
translates that an organization will succeed or fail depending on its culture (Carroll & Buchholtz,
2016). The internal environment determines the movement of the organization both in response to

its external factors and as a self-contained business entity. External environment are the factors
that are affecting the company from the outside thus the company has cannot regulates them.
Therefore mangers should make fitting changes to their marketing plan to ensure it is more suiting
to the external environment (Bryson, 2018).
There are several strategies which can be used to foster the financial and operational
elements of the healthcare organization (Mead, 2018). Like any other business, healthcare centers
are operating at various levels. Form care of the patient to financing, healthcare systems should
plan for the future in more than one way. Strategic planning fosters the productivity of the
organization. Some of the strategies which can help in achieving financial and operational
components include adjusting to appropriate company culture as well as the goals and objectives
of the company.
